Hurricane Katrina Outreach
East Henderson High School along with Refuge Baptist Church have adopted St. Martin's Elementary
School in Ocean Springs, Mississippi after the school was destroyed by the hurricane. There has
been a drive for needed items such as notebook paper, pencils, backpacks, personal hygiene items,
clothing, blankets and other household goods. The response was tremendous; a van from Refuge has
been packed and will be leaving Friday, September 30 to deliver these items. Special thanks to Phillippa
Mathis, Church Coordinator, Diana Forman, Assistant Principal of East High and Refuge Church member,
Dennis Hodges, Buster Owenby, Billy Jackson, drivers, and to everyone who participated in this effort.

Children's Ministry
-
Here at Refuge Baptist Church, we realize that children are our future,
and we take them seriously. Our goal is to provide a healthy, fun learning environment to help
every child learn about our Savior, Jesus Christ. Our desire is that through Bible study, music,
games, crafts, fellowship, and examples of faithful Christian teachers, the children will learn
what it means to be a Christian. We offer spiritual training for children through Sunday School,
Children's Choir, Wednesday Evening Children's Program, Vacation Bible School, and other fun
activities throughout the year.

Meal Ministry - Carolyn Brown, Coordinator
-
The Meal Ministry of Refuge is made up of several teams of men and women that provide a
meal once a week to the sick and shut-ins of the church and community. Each Saturday afternoon,
a team meets to deliver the meals and spend time with each individual. In addition to the
meal, each person receives a copy of our Sunday bulletin and a tape of a morning worship service.
This ministry provides physical, emotional, and spiritual nourishment to those who could not otherwise
attend regular church functions.
